PROTON’s first ever EV, the Proton e.MAS 7, successfully travelled 894km across the southern states of Malaysia on the first leg of its nationwide tour which will see Malaysia’s first electric vehicle eventually cover well over 2,000km. The first-of-its-kind EV adventure introduces the Malaysian public to the future of sustainable mobility while showcasing the Proton e.MAS 7 as it prepares for its grand launch towards the end of the year.
Traversing Malaysia’s local weather and roads, PROTON’s engineers have been hard at work to ensure Malaysia’s first EV meets the expectations of the nation. The various stops on the tour gives the public an opportunity to forge a bond with the vehicle that will kickstart Malaysia’s electrified journey.
Engagement and Exploration Down South
The Proton e.MAS 7 Tour began at PROTON’s Centre of Excellence, and convoyed south to the first stop in Negeri Sembilan where the e.MAS 7’s modern lines stood out next to the iconic Minangkabau State Museum. The contrast in design drew significant attention and admiration from the public. The following stop in Melaka, featured the EV against the historical backdrop of the A’Famosa, highlighting its sleek and contemporary design.
Stopping by places of interest and key culinary attractions in the state gave Malaysians a chance to feast their eyes on the e.MAS 7’s distinctive design, clearly visible even under camouflage. Throughout, members of the public were impressed with the e.MAS 7’s status as the largest fully electric SUV in its segment as well as with styling cues such as concealed door handles and full-length LED taillights, which offer not just aesthetic appeal but also smart functionality. The tempestuous weather did little to dampen the spirits of the tour much less the enthusiasm of the locals who showed up in droves to catch their first glimpse of the car.
The e.MAS 7 Tour also received strong community engagement at popular local eateries with many people taking part in fun and interactive games. At the four dealer showrooms in Melaka and Johor, over a thousand attendees gained firsthand insights into key features of Proton’s first EV such as its Cell-to-Body (CTB) architecture and 12-in-1 Intelligent Electric Drive system, while also highlighting its intelligent design and innovative practicality.
Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer, PRO-NET, commented: “The e.MAS 7 Tour has not only showcased our new EV’s capabilities and features but also enhanced our interaction with local communities. The positive feedback we received from the public on the car’s spaciousness and stylish design language–even while camouflaged–underscores the potential of e.MAS 7 to set new standards in the EV market.”
Journey Continues to the North
Having successfully completed the southern leg, the Proton e.MAS 7 Tour is now northbound. The EV will continue to impress with its class-leading technology and design in the states of Perak, Penang, Kedah and Perlis. The electrified nationwide tour will further build anticipation and enthusiasm for sustainable and stylish mobility solutions in Malaysia.
